Q.   Which SSID should I connect to?

A.    All faculty/staff/students of NCHU should use “NCHU” as the SSID for authentication.


Q.   Redirect to login page after entering username and password

A.    For students, please access the mail server http://mail.nchu.edu.tw (for faculty and staff, http://dragon.nchu.edu.tw) and try to login with your account and password.

Students that are unable to login to the mail server should visit the User Services Group to change their password, while faculty and staff should seek help from Mr. Lai from the Information Networking Group.


Q.   How do I apply for multiple temporary accounts to be used for activities or academic purposes?

A.   Download the Application Form for Special Operations off the website of the Computer and Information Network Center, have it affixed with a seal by your respective faculty office or administration unit, and then submit it to Ms. Huang of the Information Networking Group.


Q.   Where do I find the MAC address of my Wi-Fi network card?

A.   For Windows system, right-click on the Start button → open Network and Sharing Center  select Local Area Connection  click on Details  Physical Address is the MAC address.
For macOS systems, click on the Wi-Fi icon  press the Option key + mouse  the address is the MAC address of the wireless network card.


Q.   How do guests use the campus wireless network?

A.   Guests or visitors who need to use Wi-Fi can connect to a Wi-Fi network outside or in the library by logging in with their iTaiwan account.


Q.   Why did a security warning pop up?

A.   A window that pops up on the Wi-Fi network authentication page and shows one of the following messages: “The server’s security certificate is not trusted”, “Security warning” or “This connection is untrusted”, indicates that the SSL certificate the school’s Wi-Fi network is currently using is a self-signed certificate. To continue, users can click on “Continue to this website” or “Continue” or “I understand the risks / Add Exception / Confirm Security Exception”.


Q.   I am an alumnus of NCHU. Can I use the university’s Wi-Fi network?

A.   On-campus Wi-Fi network is currently not available to NCHU alumni.


Q.   Why do I have to enter my account password when authenticating my registered MAC address?

A.   The NCHU’s Wi-Fi authentication is valid for 10 days. Your MAC address must be authenticated again if you do not use the campus network after 10 days.
